Does anyone know if the T 7 will work with South African 7.62x51 surplus ammo?
I heard some surplus out there is primed out of reach for the T7's shorter firing pin.

tried Norinco 308 147gr fmj last weeked pretty good。
Barnual 168gr sp,Federal lake city 149gr fmj all good.

A friends tavor 7 will not shoot norinco steel case, primers look like they're being hit hard and yet it doesn't set them off, really disappointing for a $3600 gun that's marketed as a "battle rifle"

From what I ve heard, you have to extend the length of travel for the firing pin to set off military hard primers. A guy i know had to grind off some meat of the back of the bolt for that.

You do understand that an Israeli battle rifle can be a battle rifle without being designed to function with Chinese ammunition?

Tavor7 Owners :

What mags ?

I see on the IWI usa website, they recommend the MAG272 ,5/20 PMAGS .

Anyone have any experience with these mags 5/20 or 5/25 PMAGS ?
What about the MAG77 M118 mags ?

Any preferences or anything to watch out for ?
From what I've read, the MAG577 magpul M118 mags are almost the same, but allow longer cartriges CaseOverAllLength of 2.83" , which could be a benefit if you handload ....

Reliability is obviously paramount. Anyone with experience?

Thanks,
-J

It was designed for India so the local partner can make them in India . SIG 716 ended up winning the bid.

But even the 716 is having problem with the poor Indian ammo. Can't get 2nd world performance if the ammo and fuel are of 3rd world quality.

I heard modifying or removing the firing pin spring can give it some more punch on hard primers. Though the firing pin spring is there to prevent slam fires but if it isn't hitting primers hard enough under normal conditions then a slam fire would be unlikely anyway...

I just bought a case of 1000 norinco. Just shot through 150 rounds of it through my T7 so far without issue. Papers in the box indicate its 2020 production. Got it from Cabelas.

Running the factory metal 10rd mag and 5/20 pmags without issue
