Tavor 7

It's difficult to find anything - and it will get worse, the US just elected a guy who wants to confiscate guns from everyone, this means the already frantic buying pace in the US will get worse. Additionally since the "lazy person's best friend" (Covid) showed up, shipping internationally has become unpredictable and irregular. You can also add to that the fact that most local retailers do not want to order a large quantity of very expensive guns that could become worthless without notification, overnight.

Regarding Tavor 7 ammo; anyone have any issues running steel case ammo through it. I've only run brass through mine but since the prices are getting silly I just wanted to know if it'll run reliably with steel ie. Barnaul or if I have to dive in on ridiculous brass prices.

When they came out i got my Tavor 7 for 2550.00 all in from one of our dealer, i saw one at 3200.00 lately and not long... Unicorn.:)

I had trouble with some Norinco copper-wash 7.62x51 ammo I ran through mine. Had light primer strikes on a significant number of rounds, so often I rarely made it through 5 rounds without a fail to fire. All of the brass ammo I have run through it has been flawless. I believe I have about 800 rounds down the pipe with the brass stuff and haven't had a malfunction with it.

Decided to save the cheap Norc stuff for the M-14 once we are able to use them again.

One other observation, accuracy out of this thing with the Federal bulk 7.62x51 has been excellent. It shoots right around the 1 MOA mark and have shot several sub MOA groups with it, enough to say it is a regular occurrence and not just a fluke. Very impressed with this as the Federal stuff was the most reasonably priced brass cased stuff I could find.

Hirt 74 berdan primer and Tavor 7, is a match made in heaven, not a single failure, over one K rounds tru it.

Precision over the bag with this combo, average 1.25 MOA.
I bought this rifle to secure another NR before the ban.

What i did not expected was that i would luv it so much. YMMV.

I believe that you are mistaken that you bought a new Tavor 7 for $2550, IIRC when they first came out they cost between $2800 to $3100. The $2800 price was a sale, the average price was $2900-$3000. Are you sure you aren't thinking of the price of an X95?

$2,800 x 15% off which is the standard SFRC sale every other month = $2,380 + $119 GST and free shipping = $2,499

I'm just guessing here but I got an X95 less than a year ago from SFRC for $2,400 x 15% off = $2,040 + $102 GST and free shipping = $2,142

Sadly my tastes changed a couple months later just before covid hit and I sold it unfired for $2,200

Now I want another one but they are $3,000 plus another $750 for a trigger.
