How to convert your Tavor to a 9mm
Note: My Tavor is a registered Restricted firearm.
Edit: I think this would be a "once a year" type caliber conversion (i.e. to 9mm or back to .223). I recommend a dedicated 9mm Tavor
I have received a few questions on the 9mm Tavor and thought I would share the process.
The Prerequisites:
1. A Gen 2.5 Tavor
2. The 9mm Conversion Kit
3. A Basic Tool Set – details are provided in the conversion kit:
Gen 2.5 Tavor:
This is the version I refer to that has:
This Picture shows an example of the Canadian Trigger pack. The Canadian version has a release that is activated when the BCG is inserted. When activated, it moves the hammer to the cocked-ready position.
The American style trigger pack (borrowed picture) does not have this two-stage mechanism and in addition the BCG is different between the models.

You cannot use the Canadian Trigger with the 9mm Conversion kit! You must use an American SAR21 trigger or an aftermarket trigger. I opted for the Geiselle trigger, but have also obtained a US SAR-21 trigger pack that functions perfectly.
The 9mm Conversion Kit
Self-explanatory I think …. includes the BCG, Mag Adaptor, Mag (pinned to 5 rounds), Deflector ....
Tools and Installation
The entire process should take between 20 and 30 minutes.
Costs (including shipping and taxes)
All in this is a $4,000+ project
Registration
Don’t forget that if you make any changes to your firearms – contact the CFC.
Hope this helps.

This is the version I refer to that has:
- The frame pre-drilled for the 9mm Magazine adaptor. If you are brave and skilled unlike me, I am sure you can attempt to modify an earlier version.
- An American “SAR21” type trigger

The entire process should take between 20 and 30 minutes.
- Follow the instructions. You need to remove both the trigger pack and the BCG.
- The Magazine Adaptor pins are long and take substantial force to set properly. (Much more effort then on a similar AR conversion)
- Use snap caps to test functionality before you are ready to live test fire.
Costs (including shipping and taxes)
- A Tavor $2,650
- The 9mm Conversion Kit $1,100
- A Trigger $500
