I'm trying to install a new rail on my Tavor but can't get the barrel off. I haven't made a barrel removal tool and was trying to use a good fitting flat-head screwdriver instead. It won't even budge. How much torque is required to unlock the barrel cam? Thanks.

Did you push the barrel release button/pin the other side? It has to constantly pressed down for you to unlock the barrel. Make sure also the charging handle/rod is removed too.

It is tight but how tight is tight? Best tool I found was an allen key grinded down to serve as a tool. Forget the screw driver, there isnt enough leverage

make sure that whatever tool you make to fit the wrench opening perfectly... otherwise you may "waller" it out... and like others have said, remover the charging handle and rod first, or you'll be calling CanAm for another one...

it is roughly 10 ftlbs (10lbs exerted on a wrench 12" long) far more than you can likely exert with a screwdriver.

The screwdriver will damage the hole.

Thanks guys for all the help. I'm sure once I "use the proper tool for the proper job" everything'll be fine...

I hear ya sask. No harm done; made a "proper" tool (my tool-making skills leave alot to be desired!). New rail on and all is well.
