I often ding my knuckles on the top rail when charging the Tavor, but this weekend it took a nice chunk out of my hand. It made for an embarrassing moment at the range when I run for the first aid kit in my car with blood all over the bench. Got some strange looks, and I can't say I blame them.

Anyone else have this issue? I usually wear gloves when I shoot, but I didn't have them on at the time. I want to put something on the rail so it doesn't happen again, but I can't think of anything that would be aesthetically pleasing.

Never caught a thing:

Some guys find an underhand charge works well for them, using the meat of your hand just below your pinkie. I find that's pretty sore after a full day, and stick to overhand, but its an alternative.

If you use the bolt release you only need to charge her once anyways.

Ya, I tend to do my full unload drills when my mag is empty (burned into my brain from the army days). I'll look into chopping the rail. I actually like that look now that I see it.

Never run my hand into the rail but have a scar from my hand running into optics. In the end I changed my optics to a small scope. A Vortex Spitfire 3x.
