Alright, so many of us are in for the Tavor when it gets here... how many of you are upgrading to the MARS sight?

Lots is said on the other tavor thread about the M21... but how about the MARS?

It's a battery operated red dot (~$575 for Aimpoint), no magnification, and a laser... and it's about the same price as the ACOG - definitely on the higher end of the spectrum at ~$1500

Who's getting what and why?

I'd go with the Mars. Your already spending 3 grand to get one, don't cheap out on the mars unit which in a way unique to the tavor.

I expect to stick with the M21.

From the time I spent shooting the Tavor, it appears that the M21 will do everything I need a sight to do. If it needs replacing, this can be done with the optic of my choice ... I'm not sure that the Mars would be that optic.

robstar,

You should have the 3rd option in your poll:

A Picatinny Rail so you can mount whatever you want!!

But if I must choose between two, I'll go for MARS, as I personally thinks that only the Tavors deserves to mount one........ mount it on anything else (ie. M4) looks wield......

M21 should be sufficient for most .. I'd prefer and Eotech ;) ...

Maybe a rail would be a good idea ...
There will be a flood of M21s for sale in early December ;)

THe MARS is a Reflex sight with an IR/visible Laser slaved together. Like the Insight ISM that was developed for the XM-8.

IWI is making this system so difficult because they want to sell more things made by Israelis companies.

i vote for rail... MARS was too expensive, especially when articles says that because they squeeze two battery powered systems into one package (one battery circuit) then the cost should be lowered than ones with 2 separate systems, with battery time in question too.... the M21 is a joke... at a claimed 700 dollars price tag, it is an aim point equivalent, where at least MARS was holographic (eotech ripoff...) if its reflex, i'd want a 3x or 1.5x magnification with it to justify it...

Hmm... I think i'll be sticking with the M21 then. I would also like rail the best.. my fav right now is eotech.

I'm excited to try out the whole system in a couple of weeks time. I'm going to post an official thread soon - I'll be hosting a Tavor Demo day at BBRC in mid september for those in the GTA area... we can all check out the M21 then!!
