I’m looking at making my tavor into an all purpose bush gun. Want it for close to medium range shooting.
For optics I’m thinking either:
-meprolight m21 or rds plus a magnifier
Or
-strike eagle 1-8

Thoughts?

It's not on your list, but before I sold my tavor I had a specter DR on it. I don't think there's a better optic for that gun. It just fit.

Mepro M5 or mepro RDS

They were designed for the gun...

And if you are I interested I have a spare RDS that I could sell.... pm me

I was running a Vortex StrikeEagle and mount. Found it just a tad low and left me with a scrunched up feeling on the gun. I recently switched to an Mepro M21. The x95 handles much nicer now... Winter shooting, sometimes the triangle gets washed out

I am a fan of the AR332 on mine.
Nice circle to focus yor attention like a red dot.
Reticle illuminates to varying brightness of red or green.
Fixed three power to give you magnification without getting to high a magnification or too many controls to play with.
Fairly nice eye relief with a large 32mm lense.
A simple reticle useful beyond ranges you reuire, out to 600m.
Comes ready in a mount for a decent price.

Saves you having to clutter up the rail with a rds and a magnifier.

I have a Mepro MOR with a 3X magnifier; the magnifier flips to the side when not needed - setup works great for short to mid range.

I've got an M5 on mine.

So would a 2.5-10x vortex be too much of a scope for a tavor.
I.e. scope more suited to a more accurate rifle that is more accurate at range. Is a 3x magnified red dot good enough to hit the tavor maximum effective range?

I had a Viper 1-4 on my TAR 21. The TAR 21 has a very awkward cheek weld. I later switched to a ACOG and have found that to be much better.

Even with extra high rings the 1-4 didn’t work. Whatever you get make sure it had a large eye box to make up for the crappy ergonomics

I’ve got an Aimpoint PRO on mine and it fits great. I’ve fired a friends rifle who had a vortex 1-4 but I found it very uncomfortable with standard rings as there is no rise in height from the top of the stock/cheek piece and the rail. The higher mount in the Aimpoint is perfect for me
