I have a question to other fellow Tavor owners. Since there is no trigger guard to lock it, what do you guys use to safely lock up your Tavors for both home and transport? Do you use cable lock through action, special locks or other methods? Do you also recommend is a good idea to leave a snap cap (dummy ammo) inside the chamber during storage?

The Tavor is non-restricted, I store mine in my safe when not in use and there is no need for the snap cap, just ensure the rifle is UNLOADED & then dry fire it to release the spring pressure on the hammer.

And, there is no need for a cable lock or a trigger lock in transport as it only has to be in a case, being non-restricted.

I have been able to put a trigger lock on a Tavor. It is difficult, but possible. Trigger lock is not needed for transport.

Not a great idea...padded cases can often hold moisture resulting in rust. They're meant for transport, not long-term storage.

NEVER store guns in cases. Cases are moisture traps. They also ensure that moisture is held directly in contact with the metal components.

Go buy one of those cheap sheet metal gun cabinets. They work great and all you have to do is toss an unloaded rifle inside.

Why bother with a case at all? My non restricteds sit on my back seat with no locks on them.
 
Over the years, ive always stored my non-restricted firearms in soft cases.. although they are nylon lined, high end cases (blackhawk)... not the cheap canadian tire stuff...
Ive never over 12 years had any rust issues storing them in cases.. Although i should also mention i oil my guns once a month, wether i shoot them or not.... old habits...

I go through the same process for all mine, once a month it's a must although I store these in the safe. Just ran out of space.
 
Can anyone take a quick measure of what the overall length of the Tavor is, from end of muzzle device to end of stock? Curious what size soft case it could be squeezed into.
 
If anyone is looking for a nice safe, but money is an issue, you should check costco. In store they usually have decent fire rated rifle safes for $250-350. Their website has the nicer winchester models, but they're around $700 delivered.
