Tavor TAR-21 or Bushmaster ACR Enhanced?

well i would say tavor as that is the only rifle you can currently buy in canada. the ACR is currently in limbo.

ACR's are reportedly on the way.

There are a few ACR's in country if you want to buy one second hand.

It's the SCAR that's in limbo.

Don't get either of those. Get a Swiss Arms!

I thought Bushmaster ACR Enhanced is restricted......Tavor 21 is non restricted.
Unless you are willing to spend more money to change the Bushmaster ACR's barrel to a 18 inch.

yes and no... you can change out the barrel on the ACR to make it a NR or you can actually purchase them with the NR barrel.

ACR will be more accurate. Assuming you get a good barrel that shimmed properly.

I'm a Tavor guy though. More likely to find one for a better price, half the size, half the weight, less issues than the ACR in general.

As a note: the problems I had with P-mags and my Tavor apparently applies to ACR's as well. So with either of these I'd be looking for the new generation of P-Mags.

The thing is that the ACR is a really great platform, but if your looking to have it NR, it wonn't be easy. The NR barrel is not always available, also, the gas port is not available for import, so you will have to rip it off your original barrel, wich I heard is not easy... and after all that, +/- 400$ more spend on your ACR, even bouth with the NR barrel... I like de ACR....but....

ACR:

Pros: AR style comtrols and manipulations
Cons: Barrel change and availability

Tavor:

Pros: Smaller form factor (bullpup design) and NR
Cons: Slack trigger, less costumisable out of the box (depending of the version)

I was an early fan of the Magpul MASADA, until Bushmaster turned it into the ACR. My vote would go with the Tavor. Established platform, known issues, supported in Canada, lighter and more handy than the ACR. That said, I'd pick a Swiss Arms every day of the week and twice on Sunday if I had to choose only one of the three. :)

That's not an easy question to answer since the ACR is restricted and the Tavor is non-restricted. If we were comparing a non-restricted ACR with a factory barrel (not an aftermarket one), then my vote would be for the ACR.

I actually didn't expect that from you. I'm surprised.

Are you kidding? I've drank way more of the Magpul Kool-aid than most. ;) I had an ACR, and they're just a fantastic rifle. I'd prefer the new ACR2 with the magnesium lower, but I'd settle for a factory 18.5" low profile barrel to bring the weight down on the existing ACR.

The firearm I really want is the Beretta ARX-160, so it's a toss-up which will be available first...

Well, I don't know then! I thought you loved your Tavor?
