I just bought a new Tavor for a great price.

I've noticed that the mags in my tavor take a lot more effort to seat and remove than my AR. Is this normal? In fact, I find that the mag that the tavor comes with is easier to seat and remove than my gen2 PMAGS. Would the Gen 3 PMAGS fit better?

Also, how do I know if I have a Gen 2.5? I was told it can be figured out based on the BCG?

Thanks to all who post!

I'm far from an expert but I've found usgi mags fit and work best in mine. I recall there is also some sort if issue with the tavor and certain gen pmags (causing damage by interfering with bolt hold open I think).

Thanks. I'll buy some E-lander mags when I get a chance next.

Gen 2 Pmags are problematic in the Tavor. Gen3 are gtg.

Tight pinned mags are damn near impossible on a closed bolt. 5.5 round pinning works fine. Try a mag with 4 rnds loaded and see if that makes a difference

As mentioned above, check your rivets.

YMMV

I concur with the rest here, every gen 2 pmag I have used takes effort to insert and remove, not a lot but still. Gen 3 pmags drop freely.

Older PMags may not fit as well in non-AR-15s. This was fixed with the Gen 3, but it's why Magpul made the EMag for a while.

Away out of province for work. But wish I could show you the damage a S### rivet job does after a two day course to the magwell

Easily 1/4" eaten out at the mouth of my magwell

As stated. Decent usgi or gen 3 pmag

Lar mags are perfect fit
