Hi,

I’ve gotten myself set up to load 223 Remington on my Dillon 550, but I’ve noticed a small dent on the body of all my brass.

I shoot a Tavor X95, which has an ejection port deflector that puts a little dent in the same place of every piece of brass it ejects.

My question is: Is this a big deal? I’d be surprised if a case rupture could happen with a dent of this size, but I really don’t know.

I’ve been reloading for about 4 years, but mostly for bolt rifles, new to 223.

Photos attached.

Thanks,

Keith

Didn't we just do this not long ago? That is nothing to worry about, carry on.

Yes, we did.

OP Keith: Brass denting is very normal with these guns, they are "overgassed" to provide vigorous ejection. It is by design: A result of the system using more gas than necessary for merely gentle ejection. This is a good thing for reliability in dirty conditions and using a wide variety of ammunition. It's theoretically hard on your brass, but has no practical significance for a rifle in this class.

Oh was this question posted already? Didn't notice that.

Thanks everyone, I'll go ahead and load those up.

That wasn't a shot at you for not searching. I think the other thread was in the Black rifle forum. I have light loads that get dented and some hot stuff too. I think the timing of the cycle is the biggest factor. Regardless, it's nothing to worry about. Your next powder charge will flatten them back out.
