So I'll get pictures up as soon as I have it in hand, but it should end up being a nice novelty to have.

I'm running a Ferfrans muzzle brake and "blast shield" on my Tavor X95. To my eyes the barrel profile to the large 1.6" diameter "blast shield" looked awful. Similar to a KX5 pig etc.

I'm having a machinist (very reputable in the motorcycle world) make me a custom jam nut replacement. Essentially, it is a 1.6" heat shield / barrel shroud that threads onto the muzzle behind the Ferfrans, acts as the jam nut for brake alignment, and extends backwards towards the handguard on the X95. With the exception of the thin 1/8" gap between the rear of the Ferfrans and the jam nut, it should look like a suppressor profile from handguard to muzzle.

I've discussed pricing with him on these, and if there is a couple of different diameters for the Ferfrans, KX5, Matador, etc, I can get the pricing for this part down quite a bit (probably to $100 or less). Its a small market, but when I get this one done I'll post pictures and see if anyone else wants one made up. If it works as I expect of course. ;)

Its done, but I have to get home and pick it up. Maybe a week or ten days and I'll get a picture up.

I hope it works and isn't a flop. The only question I had was about the rigidity of the tube at the handguard end as it was not built "braced", just open. The machinist was going to use a steel that he said would require "more force" to bend or hurt the threads on the jam nut. His exact words were "if you hit it hard enough to bend this, you and the rifle likely have more to worry about".

I've seen this guy do amazing things with motorcycles so I trust his thinking around the concept of stresses.

Pictures up in a week or so.

It will add too much weight to the front end, better make it "braced" at the back, make a rear cap that will have the inside hole same diameter as the barrel. And make it out of aluminum. All these cosmetic upgrades do nothing but add weight and change barrel harmonics. I made few barrel shrouds for CZ 858 and Sub2k and although it looks good, it's barely worth it at the end.

Its done, no paint or anything yet. Looks good, works very well and is very solid. Adds almost no weight to the end that I notice, still swings easy, shoots fine.

I'll get it coated or something soon enough. So far so good. Didn't change point of impact at 50m so I'm satisfied its good to go.

The X95 wasn't a tack driver to start with. When I'm shooting bulk 5.56/223 I don't worry too much about barrel harmonics or Earths gravitational anomalies. Thats for 200m 7.62 guns. ;)

Looks good. I gather the 1/8" gap is to tighten the jam nut? Does it pickup a lot of heat from the barrel or does it run fairly cool?

I'll get more heat tests with more time and ammo, but if it needs more cooling I'll just vent it.

The shroud acts as the jam nut, makes adjusting the muzzle device easier. The gap is to allow the quick detach "Ferfans blast shield" to lock on or off. Nothing to be done there unless you fitted it right to the shield over the back end of the brake. This was much simpler to build.

Wow, I just checked the specs on this and it's heavier than an actual suppressor! (not including the shroud) Width is close, though.
