IIRC, there could be no tax on consignment items, but maybe the commission. Do your research for your province. This might help. Warning, this is not light reading and about as easy to interpret as gun laws!

I have my own small business, and to protect the enterprise, I hired security and received a permit to use weapons. It was very difficult to achieve such results, but thanks to my friends, everything worked out.
You have to wonder about statements like this coming from a Newbie.
Your allowed to use firearms to protect your property.
I would say a load of bull.

Everything about the original quote is odd. Reviving a 2 years dead thread about tax on consignment firearms to make that statement.
Talking about "weapons" to protect an enterprise.
Thanking friends for... Getting a PAL? Getting guns?
This is the most confusing thing I've read on CGN. And very suspect as a new account.

Edit: and I think you mis-typed and meant to say "not allowed" to use firearms to protect property.

Fair question, I have asked the same thing when buying. Seems like a double dip to me.
Oh and good luck small security guy, sounds like your on it.... well at-least on something
