Good evening,

I am very interested in buying something in the encore line because of the vast amount of barrel options you can switch day to day with. However looking online some Canadian distributors don’t sell them anymore. Are they phasing this out? I hope not, I’m looking to buy new or used ASAP to keep me busy hand loading this winter.

Thank you in advance!!!

Cabelas Canada has them in stock and will ship to stores.

I wanted one but lack of unique barrel options in Canada killed the dream for me. A few cheap barrels in 270, '06 and .308 Marlin Express at WSS Calgary but where's the fun in that?

I Run Guns Had a few on the US site.
Yup They are hard to find in Canada.

But My encores and Contenders i am still able to find them on Gun Broker , That's where i got a decent amount of them .

No problem buying off Gun Broker if your willing to pay an importer to bring it in to Canada for you which makes the barrels to expensive.

Unless like me you bought off them when it was still legal to just ship a barrel here but alas this is no more...

I'm trying IRUNGUNS out right now for the first time a month ago I purchased a stainless G2 Contender frame and black synthetic stock set from them missed the cut off for shipping right away by two days so I'm still patiently waiting.

I had a bad experience waiting for an extractor on a brand new barrel, just after Smith and Wesson took over I think, left a bad taste, I have been tempted a few times but remember the bad service and have stopped myself.

I hope you have better luck with them than I did. They sent me a scratched up NIB Contender barrel, their fault, and wouldn't make it right. I'll never deal with them again. A z tech for me when I want something from the US. They do a good job and cost less.

I have all of my Prohunter barrels shortened can't stand the long 28" tubes it does nothing for velocity and is negative towards accuracy.

I have 3 stainless Prohunter and 1 stainless Encore barrels my 25-06 is now 24", my 30-06 and 375H&H barrels are now 22" and my 45-70 Encore barrel is still the original 24" but I want to cut it down to 18.5 - 19" I just had two 23" bull stainless Contender barrels in 204 Ruger & 6.8SPC shortened to 19" end result is a far nicer balanced combo.

To me the idea of a single shot especially the Contenders and Encores is to have a more compact/shorter overall length/faster handling carbine plus the long barrels are not as accurate as the shorter barrels.

Check this thread out on testing Encore barrel lengths https://dandtcustomgunworks.websitetoolbox.com/post/tc-pro-hunter-test-4637984

elim where do I find info on AZ Tech I'm interested in a couple more barrels one would be a stainless factory tapered 21" 309JDJ from Match Grade Machine or SSK Ind.

I don't buy PH barrels, just the normal Encore are fine, usually.

I found a new source for Encore and Contender barrels in Canada tonight.

I had contacted Match Grade Machine in the States about an issue I was having with the extractor on my 6.8spc barrel it was occasionally slipping past the rim leaving the case stuck in the chamber.

They told me that they would ship a new extractor to me thru a fellow that they deal with in Canada.

He phoned me tonight to tell me the extractor was in and that he needed to confirm my address turns out he sells Contender and Encore barrels his name is Ron and his website is www.nine35.ca

I conversed with him a while ago about barrels but I just couldn't convince myself to spend that kind of money on a barrel.

I agree with his barrels being expensive but they are Match Grade Machine the cost of their custom made barrels is on par with his asking prices.
