Anyone know where a guy can find a prohunter in 45-70? I'm in BC and wholesale sports is the logical choice, but dealing with them is painful - most of those guys have the intelligence of a 2x4. Who has a good selection? Are 2nd barrels even available?

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated...Or if anyone has one they're willing to part with give me a shout.

Thanks in advance.

don't know if you're looking for just the barrel or whole frame and all. Epps does have a used ss 20" barrel listed.

TC prohunter considered strong?

Thanks for the help guys - got in touch with ellwood epps and looks good. A question though - Would the TC encore Prohunter in 45-70 be considered a "Strong" action as far as loading max loads ie over and above factory loads? I'm referencing the term "strong" as it's used in the Nosler reloading manual.

I assume so, but it's not listed in the manual along with the likes of the ruger #1 etc..

Thanks,
Cleo

As a modern action I would think so, I believe they are leary about the antique 45-70's ability to handle higher presure modern bullets

I have one of these barrels but have yet to mount it or shoot it. I got it from Joe Brooks but there selection is sparse lately
