Ok, so I just picked up a Tc encore .50 cal inline. What would you guys recommend shooting in this gun? I mean, pyrodex pellets, loose powder, what type of sabot for target shooting, or hunting? Let me have it, I would appreciate all the help I could get. :popCorn:
 
No expirence with the encore but I use same bullet + sabot for hunting as I would for target shooting. Only target shooting I do is: shooting my MZer at 50-100-150-200 yds. I like to know where my rifle is shooting at different ranges for when hunting + I only get one shot.
You will have to try different bullets, sabots,powder to see wich one is the most accurate in your rifle. You could also check out a MZler site for info on your rifle. HuntingNet.com has alot of info.
My knight likes 240grHP's with crush rib sabots + 2-50gr pyrodex pellets. But that might not work in your's.
 
TC Encore

Can't speak for the Encore but I had tried a variety of bullets in my TC Omega before I found one that my gun liked. 250 gr. Hornady SST with 100 gr. 777 Pellet's. I am currently looking at trying 2 new loads:

150 gr. 777 pellets and 300 gr. SST

150 gr. 777 pellets and a 290 gr. Barnes Spitfire TMZ

I have the odd Elk in my area so I would like to be able to take a shot at 100 yards if it is presented and Imo the 250 grain bullets are not enough. But are great for deer.
 
I shoot 120grs volume of 777 FG and 250gr SST.
Mine really liked 240gr XTP's/2 x777 pellets which were the 1st loadings I tried when I got the Encore.
I prefer shooting weighed charges for better accuracy/consistency.
 
3- 50 grainers of pyro pellets and 250 gr Hornady sst. 3 inches high at 100yrds you should be around 6 inches low at 200 yrds.. good luck and have fun.:rockOn:
 
After doing some bullet recovery at the range(and reports from other dissatisfied users of the SST):mad: , I will discontinue any future use of the Hornady SST bullets and instead switch to 300gr .45cal(.452) XTP with MMP sabot. The recovered XTP's were damn near 100% wt. retention,the same can be said for some loads I tried with Hornady 300gr .45cal(.458) FNHP but found that sabots for this size of bullet were too hard to find:(
I was finding SST copper jackets minus the lead......way too often:mad: .

I've had my encore for three years,I use 3 tripple seven pyrodex pellets with a 295 gr powerbelt bullet,totally devestating on deer,I should have used the 245 gr power belt but could not find any at the time,I sometime use 2 pellets for a 100 gr charge and they also work well,my encore loves everything I stuff in her,I stopped using the sabot and bullet combo in favor of the power belt so could reload faster and they do shoot amazing,last years deer came at a lazered 223 yards and basically blew the deer up like a balloon from the shock,when we went to gut him I literally did not have to skin it.It looked like the deer had a football under the skin .just amazing.My encore is topped by a leupold european 1-4.5 scope and prints clover leafs at a 100.You will love yours just get out and use it,try to find the load data and makesure before you shoot the magnum load it is safe to do so ,a friend I hunt with uses only 2 pellets and does very well. cheers george
