Recently picked up an Icon through the exchange. Picked it up this am and am debating on sending this back to the seller. I was told it was "Like new, never fired, not a scratch on it". OK, so I was pumped about getting this. It arrives, and it is beautiful to be sure, but a few flaws are spotted. First, there looks like two spots on the barrel slightly lighter then the rest of the bluing on the barrel, like finger prints. They do not come off. I can live with this, not a huge deal, looks like something that may have happened in the bluing process (forgot to completely clean the barrel or something before dipping or whatever they do??). But then I look at the buttpad. The fit and finish of this rifle is very nice, but the buttpad does not show the same. The pad does not properly meet the lines of the stock, the top of the pad looks slightly left of center, and the pad is a Pachmayer White line. It looks like someone cut down the stock as well, perhaps my eyes are decieving me but the cut angle (looking from top down) does not appear to be a perfect 90...making the pad slightly off kilter. It also looks like they masked off the stock and slipped with the sanding strip in finishing the buttpad a few times removing small areas of finish. not to bare wood of course, but like the shellac layer or something. Sooooo, question to other icon owners....is there a meth head working on the TC assembly line or did bubba get to this "Like new. never fired" TC before I did??
Sorry. no pics atm, could probably post some this weekend.
