I just took delivery on a venture in 7mm mag. Love the round and research on this rifle seemed to indicate it was a good buy. Has anyone out there bought one.

If so how'd it shoot perform etc.... and what is your opinions on the gun. I probably won't get to the range for a while and hunting season is here so it may be spring before I get a chance to test it out.

I'd say fit and finish is between a vanguard and a savage. The clip and the trigger guard are plastic which bugs me a bit but the rest of the mechanics seems well done.

The action is quite smooth. I don't have any ammo or brass around yet so I haven't checked that out yet. The 60 degree bolt lift is nice short fast and no mounting issues for a scope.

The barrel is top notch. Great job on the crown and it is a bit heavy but not too heavy. Step up from the whippy barrels they put on the vanguards. My only complaint is the plastic on the trigger guard and clip. I would pay a bit more for these parts to be metal but I guess thats just a personal preference.

I hope it shoots as good as the literature claims.

Will do. But it could be spring because its hunt'n season and I have some other toys in line to be used. Already been out chasing elk with the bow. No arrows in the air but we've called a couple of bulls and had a pile of fun.:D

The range gets too full this time of year and testing loads is a pain in the arse with a pile of the under 20 shots per year crowd out there.

After the season its just too cold. If the cold shrunk my groups the same as it does other things I may be tempted though.
