I reload for a .357 4.2 S&W, and 44 Super Redhawk revolvers. For just range plinking and paper target practice , and in the interest of reloading practice. I am curious about the various bullet shapes and styles. Are many of you using semi wad cutters? Or the hard cast bullets for your range use? Please enlighten me, so that the next time I am at my local supplier I can choose different bullets to enhance my shooting and my knowledge of these many variables.......

148gr wadcutters .38Spl out of your .357 makes a nice light target load and great for new shooters to try. Semi-wadcutters and wadcutters make nicer round holes on paper, kinda like a big hole punch. Cast round nose ammo in smaller cals like .357 and 9mm make indistinct holes, kinda like punching a hole with a chopstick. In the .44 mag, probably not a big difference what style of bullet for hole punching.
Some say semiwadcutters are more accurate but I really don't know for sure.

For 38spl I mostly use 148gr hollow base wad cutters with 2.8gr of Bullseye. Ultra accurate and punches perfectly round holes.

I mostly shoot some form of SWC for revolver rounds as that seems to be the most popular. I have an awesome spire point mold for my 500 that I would love to get made for my 357mag.
