Hello All,

Does anyone have a good way to tear down a Tapco'd SKS without removing the pistol grip? And more importantly any way to put everthing back together with pistol grip still attached to stock?

Thanks

SKS disassembly with Tapco T-6 stock

Yes. The following video shows how to disassemble and reassemble Tapco'd SKS (with the pistol grip on). Don't cut your pistol grip as shown in the previous video. Good luck.

Hello All, Thanks for the replies. I really didn't like either of the solutions in the videos. The first guy is hacking up the grip and second, the only way I can see this working is to leave the spring out from under the trigger group if you ever wanted to reassemble the thing with the pistol grip on. The reason for this thread is I like to tear the rifle down out of the stock for cleaning and I didn't like to unscrew the pistol grip each time. This is because I felt it would over time the screw would chew up the stock where it was threading in. So to get around this I am having a custum stud made up with the same thread pitch as the supplied tapco screw on one end and a standard 1/4"-20 thread on the other end. This way I can use a nut to hold the pistol grip on and nothing should wear out during tear down. I will post pics once the parts arrive.
