Maybe this is an odd question, or I'm just missing something. But I'd rather ask than try to keep figuring this out on my own.

I have a new Winchester SXP Black Shadow 12G and the Disconnector Release Button is really confusing me here.

My understanding is that it's use prevents the hammer from engaging.

Yet, when I use it while cycling the forearm, the hammer is clearly engaged to fire.

I've yet to actually get to fire live, and just run some snapcaps through it. But there's a distinct sound of the hammer releasing when I pull the trigger after using the Disconnector Release.

The funny thing is that everything I see and read suggests that shouldn't happen. But am I missing something here? Hopefully I'm being clear. I'm not the best writer in the world.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Are you referring to the slide release button ? if so it has one function and that is to release the bolt from the locked in battery position without pulling the trigger . once the hammer is cocked the only way to release it is to pull the trigger . the slide release has no inter action with the hammer in this way . however the hammer once in the fired position will activate the slide release allowing the action to open . the cross bolt safety does not disconnect the sear from the hammer .it blocks the trigger from travelling to engage the sear . when the trigger group is in a fire ready condition .
