Tell me about Beretta's Elite II

Hey guys, does anyone have any experience with this pistol? I have a chance to pick up a used one and just want to see what people thought about it. It is a Beretta, so I know they're well done. This Elite II is a stainless slide version. It's got a very smooth action, and hasn't seen a lot of rounds, but I think it's a slick looking gun. Any concerns with them? Good? bad? ugly?

You might want to search this board for info. I was concerned about the accuracy and just found out that with cross-dominant eye compensation, and support hand adjustment, it's very accurate.

The trigger is a pleasure and the Novaks are great. It might be the most attractive handgun ever made. No more are being made, so likely it will be a bit of an investment as well as a friend.

The stainless-coloured extractor might break after several thousand rounds. But a new black one is cheap and it takes a couple of minutes to change 'em.

I've had no other issues with the gun. It eats and fires absolutely everything I put in it.

And did I tell you that it's beautiful?
 
I did a quick search and didn't find much regarding them. Thanks very much for your info, it certainly is a pretty gun. That's kinda why I want it. I don't have a good Beretta yet, and this would be a nice one to shoot I think. Much appreciated. Hopefully someone else will chime in with some more good thoughts. :)
 
If the price is alright, and you want one; than there's absolutely no reason why you should deprive yourself; Berettas are all around great guns.

Thanks Lugger, you and I think the same way. I have made my choice, and I'll nab it on Monday. Most info I've found and people commenting on it has all been positive. Any other comments are always welcome but I think that does it for me. I'm sold. :D
 
Are you looking at a 92 or 96 ? They are OK in 9mm but much shorter lifespan in .40 especially if you are shooting full load factory ammo.

great guns. replace the stainless extractor with a black one right away (if it's not done already). they are G models, so it's decock only, not a safety. Best gun, next to the Billy and the Combat/Stocks, that Beretta has ever made. Deadly accurate.
 
I own a couple EII's in 40, very accurate and reliable. However as Slaxex stated, the stainless extractor should be changed to the blued version right away. I have done the trigger job as per the beretta forum and the trigger is much nicer now, but be warned the trigger pull is long in double action and takes a bit of getting used to - this turns a lot of people off to the S/DA G model beretta's - I suggest you try before you buy.

I also found the grip is a little too thick but not enough to turn me off. Also the cheesy plastic guide rod should be changed out asap to a stainless one - I have both a solid stainless guide rod and a couple of duel action guide rods, you can't go wrong with either. Also I changed the sites to a Dawson fiber optic front and PSI adjustable rear. After several thousand rounds of plated projectiles I found the EII's super reliable and very accurate. If you can find an EII and like the feel, grab it now because they are getting very hard to find these days as they have been discontinued by beretta.
