Tell me about CZ 75s

I never really gave the company CZ the time of day. I saw CZ 75s in the cases at stores, for sale in the EE, and I never gave them the time of day.

Then I saw an SP01 shadow and went HOLY #### that's a nice gun!

So I would love to hear what people have to say about the CZ 75's reliability, durability, and whathaveyou.

They're priced relatively low, so I was wondering what kind of finish and quality is to be expected, like fit and finish, quality of bluing, etc. or if they're rough around the edges?

All the guns I purchase, I want to know that they're going to be pristine (if well cared for) and able to be gifted to my grandchildren.

Ive had mine for two years (SP01) and love it. It is very reliable and hasn't had any major problems, I get the odd jam here and there when I don't clean it for some time. I will suggest getting the shadow though as you get a much better trigger and sights for a little extra. The finish is a high durability paint that certainly does its job and takes a good beating before it shows any real wear.

Over all they are great pistols that are very well designed both internally as well as ergonomically which is the main reason I bought mine initially. Couldn't say anything bad about them, the only thing I've ever seen go wrong is a sheared slide stop but that was on a pre-B 75.

Go buy one!
 
best feeling centerfire pistol i own, and the most accurate aswell

mine was made under the BRNO brand before they became CZ
 
Ah, the 85 Combat is the one pistol I still regret parting ways with. I traded it for a Beretta of all things...<Navo slaps himself in the face>
 
f you want durable the best is the Stainless but it is heavy as hell, and $1000!

I have a stainless 75B and it's not any heavier than a regular 75B. It is the most expensive of the 75's, but worth it IMO as the paint finish of the 'regular' CZ looks cheap to me.

they do feel great in a hand and are pretty accurate but if you reload you might need to do some tweaking to get it working reliable.
 
Out of all CZs in 9mm a few stand out - 75SA, 85 Combat and Shadow.
75SA is a single action gun, with wide ambi safety, almost straight trigger.
85 Combat also has ambi safety but adds ambi slide release too. It's lacking FPB and that gives it crispier trigger. It comes with adjustable rear sight.
Shadow has full dust cover (there will be a variant with short dust cover next year - great news for IDPA SSP Div.), FO front and plain black rear sight, no FPB; trigger is very good out the box. Wide ambi safety.
Those three are very well suited for competition shooting and are well priced.
For competitive shooting, I'd recommend changing front and rear sights on 75SA and 85 Combat, Shadow is good as it is. There are several choices for factory and aftermarket grip panels including alum, wood and rubber.

For a less demanding person, plain jane 75B or 85B are good choices.

To futher lighten and improve trigger pull, one can change main spring to either 15# or even 13#, thou 13# one may cause light primer strikes with hard CCI primers, Win and Fed ones are not affected. But there is slightly extended firing pin for the gun to cure light strikes with CCI primers and 13# main spring combination.

The guns like to be clean and somewhat 'wet' (oiled) during COF.

Parts are fairly well available in Canada, nothing can go really wrong with the guns that cannot be easily fixed.
 
I have been shooting cZs since the 80s and they have been totally reliable. The ergonomics, for me, are the best of any pistol. One day soon I am going to get a Shadow or SP01.

Hi,

CZ's are great pistols for the price, with manufacturing quality that ranks right up there with some of the best North American manufacturers. I have two CZ's - 75B SP01 Shadow and 75B Stainless - and they're great guns.

BTW, my stainless steel CZ 75B 9mm is for sale at a great price and comes with a lot of extras such as Trilium night sights, extra mags, and a recoil reduction system that makes for smooth, almost recoiless shooting. It's in excellent condition and I've only put 25 rounds through it. I'm the second owner, and the first one shot about 500 rounds through it. E-mail me for pics if you're interested. Cheers,

What Ruger is to revolvers (SP101, GP100, Redhawk), CZ is to Semi Auto's.
Tough, reliable, accurate, last you a life time quality and very thoughtfully
designed - you can't get much better then that. Did I mention good looking too.:D
