"So many shotguns...so little time."

*So tell us...what was the first shotgun you ever owned?
*Do you still have it?

If you still have it, please post a pic of your very first shotgun. Or post a pic of your favorite shotgun.

First one I ever bought was an 870 express 12ga. Got it off the EE for cheap and two years later she's still going strong. None of the "it rusted up like a B*tch from breathing near it" horror stories.

Model 1300 Winchester Defender with a satin finish (sandblasted finish). It came with some really light blond wood. Got it from SIR in the very early '80s. Had a lot of fun with that gun.

25 years ago I purchased a new single shot .410 made by NEF. It removes the heads off of chickens and grouse just as well today, as it did 25 years ago.

My favorite shotgun is my Beretta 686 O/U in 12g for field hunting, and a Rem. 870 for waterfowl and slug hunting.

Not 100% sure on this one (it was a looonnnggg time ago) but I think it was a single shot CIL either 12 or 20 gauge.

My first was a franchi 500, cheapest one in the Calgary Buy& Sell. Had to have a buddy register it as I was still waiting for my license. $265 + $25 for the strawman, plus $25 to register it to me. Found out the hard way that it was terribly finicky to take apart and reassemble for cleaning. Still have it. Don`t really want it, but can`t seem to let it go. Stil shoot a little trap with it now and again.
First `REAL shotgun was a browning superposed dated 1959. Anyone can have it, after they pry it from my cold dead hands.

Winchester 1300. I've added a sling, and a red dot scope to it. I still use it for everything, although looking at picking up a new remington 870 sps turkey predator soon.

Haha, sounds so f@cking stupid, but I had to have that Bronco Garcia 22/410 I bought at Sears in Halifax.
In a cash strapped moment I later sold it. Don't think it was tough enough for day in day out hunting, but it was super light and very packable when broken down. Slightly OT, but number 2 was an M37 Ithaca that also was gotten rid of (youthful stupidity!) I've since made up for that loss considerably.
Favorite? A neck & neck race, for slug tossing this 12:

For small game, an SKB 20 gauge:

First shotgun was (and still is) a 18.5" Mossberg 590A1. Why ? Coz it had a bayonet lug! :p

Sweet rifle. Solidly built, smooth, reliable and accurate (well it *is* a shotgun) and with the bayonet has lots of character. Not too fond of the synthetic stock and the LOP is a touch too long, but at least it is waterproof and doesn't show dings as much as wood.

Have taken it almost everywhere I am legally allowed to and it hasn't let me down yet! The only downside to it would be that for extended hiking trips, the weight can be a bit of a factor for some.

Man these threads regarding first gun of a a certain type sure make me feel dated LOL.

My first Shotgun I bought when I was 18 was ..Winchester Defender 1300 w pistol grip no stock...got if for the LCF ..look cool factor.

Now shooting a Remington 870 Police Model 14" bbl w M-4 stock tru glow rifle sites and side sadle.
