Is there a way to tell if a revolver is chambered in .32 Merwin and Hulbert or
.32 Smith and Wesson? Its A Merwin and Hulbert and only has .32 as a calibre marking.

Cheers,
Dave

Or 32 Colt or .32? Finding an empty 32 colt and 32 S&W and trying them in the chamber would be a good first step....IMO. The 32 colt is smaller than the 32 S&W. And lots of gun owners aren't very willing to go out of their way to do that..........ie...one very large dealer in Houston.
My book mentions both 32 short and 32 long in M&H revolvers so that might indicate Colt.
One book I have on Pistol and Revolver cartridges lists over 20 different 32 cal cartridges.
Good luck with it.
