Hi, I was wondering if any Canadians have temporarily imported their m1 garand, or springfield 1903 to USA on ATF form 6ia or is a US citizen and has temporarily imported ,(for competition, Camp Perry, etc) because I read on the ATF website that "firearms which are US Government origin, or contain US Government origin manufactured parts may generally not be imported"

On one Canadian police website, this guy said that the US customs guy asked if he had any SBR's(short barreled rifles), norinco firearms, or US lend lease weapons(m1 carbine, Garand?). I think on the ATF form 6ia, it says that a curio and relic is OK for temporary import(which the m1 just became in 2008). What about a springfield or a Krag? Are those considered US goverment origin firearms? If you are an American, and dont need to file paperwork, what about that?
My m1 is a Springfield, with springfield bolt and trigger, but everything else in beretta or danish. Thanks!

Lend-Lease are a no go, but the curio/relic issue isn't one I've dealt with.

How do I know it was a lend lease? If it was just the reciever, what if the parts count exceeded a certain number, so that it would be considered not to be US Government origin? kinda like 922r?

Seems nobody knows.

Let's go default and say don't bring it. Stick to a civilian rifle with no controversy or chance of confiscation, like a Springfield M1A. (and even make sure about that)

South of the border has many many rules, hard to know all of them.

Ok, I will see about a different rifle. I emailed them, but they havent emailed back. Its hard to bring myself to talk to the BATFags after what they did at Waco and Ruby Ridge, not to mention Fast and Furious. Oh well, know your enemy I guess. Those pigs will get what they deserve.
