Interesting to watch serial three from this vantage point. Certainly for me (the RSO) I was finding it difficult to monitor trigger fingers and safety selectors while keeping track of time appreciations. I will deinetly need to use aditional ARSO's in the future because it's too much for one or two guys on the line to do all of this work.

Regardless it was fun. No shooters from Terrace were at the event but we did have a healthy number of shooters arrive from Smithers and Kitimat. Due to a lack of interest in musketry drills here in Terrace I'm thinking of making this a roving competition that bounces between Smithers, Terrace, Kitimat and Prince Rupert. Instead of bringing the shooters to the competition perhaps it's time to bring the competition to the shooters? What do you guys think? There are PROS to keeping things in stationed in Terrace but the CONS are that there appears to be very few rifle shooters here.

Personally, I think that's a helluva plan. Might be easier to dig up some helpers at the other ranges. If you plan it right, you might even get to shoot. :)
BTW, thanks for putting that on. My son and I certainly enjoyed ourselves. Him more than I because he managed to beat me like a rented mule after lunch.

I'd take part in an SR match in the future, the timing just didn't work out for this weekend. I'd hazard a guess the real nice weather and potential for salmon in the river was weighing on us locals as well...good day to travel :)

Thanks to you guys for your efforts out there.

Well.....time to get the planing book out and see when Smithers can put one on.End of Sept or Oct sometime, let me know!!...As for helpers,it turns out I have a fine group of JCR's to do this.
You did a fine job Richard...I had a great time and enjoyed good chat.:D

First, thanks for all your time and effort Richard; it was a great event.

I'm neutral on the roving idea. Terrace is somewhat central for this area. Putting it on in Smithers or Rupert may increase the number of local shooters, but decrease those at the opposite end. Prince Rupert burns hell out of four hours driving time for us in Smithers. We got up at 4:15 AM to make the 7:30AM registration time. If held in Rupert, we would need a room or have to look at running the motorhome (more cost) down on Friday night.

Of course, if we were to be able to use the military butts again it would be obvious to leave the shoot in Terrace.

What about the logistics of transporting all the target stands, barricades, etc.? Would it all go in one pickup, or need a second?

After the shoot we went into town. Wherever we went the talk was all about the fishing that was happening. I know there is always fishing happening in Terrace, but perhaps this year's late spring created a situation whereby some who normally would shoot chose to fish instead.

Lots to think about. Thanks again for a great event.

Hey BC308,

Didja shoot your BC Interior Clinic tweaked M14 shorty and show it to RifleChair? Anyways that's good on you guys for trying to get more shooters out to compete and/or practice with their boomsticks.... :D

Cheers,
Barney

That's me shooting left closest to the camera, and yes it's the shorty I tweaked in 100 Mile. The rifle did great. Now if I can just figure out how to tweak my old knees, hips and back to cooperate I'll be laughing.

Although it was a small field, I took first in the open class. Good PR for M305's. I guess it pays to go to school!

Where is the range in Terrace ? I do consulting work up/over there and was just there 2 weekends ago...bored stiff at the sandman sitting at Denny's I thought I shoulda brought some guns...now I see you have a range to boot !

Cheers guys

MudChucker, Google Terrace Rod and Gun Club, then FAQ, How To Find Us. A great map pops up. Basically, turn off Hwy. 16 East and go behind the helicopter base, up Crescent St. and take the second left.

Cheers !

thank-you.

Do you folks permit guests ? I expect to be out your way about 4 times a year.... what is a membership worth ?

Hey bro.
A membership is about $70 for the year and you can purchase one at Misty River Tackle (5100 block of Agar Avenue). Otherwise you might be able to buy day passes from the care taker over at the club facility which is $5 or $10 a day.

Club members are allowed to have one guest with them.

As for holding the competition at different ranges Terrace is really the most central location so in that respect is is probably best to keep it here. I've spoken with Jason about using Kitimat because we can engage targets out to 400m but we can only have a max number of four people on the line at a time.

Also the ground isn't very good for running. Well, we have about six months to come to a decision.
