War casts a long shadow
It puts me in mind of the post I did about the resistance activities in occupied Belgium. A wildly complicated subject. If you are bored this Winter, this (French Resistance history)is a deep rabbit hole or iceberg as the kids like to say now.
One of the aspects of 'milsurp' is the individual and collective psychological damage suffered that carries forward through successive generations in civilization. Dwindling somewhat but never reaching a value of zero. Many of us have seen this in our fathers and so forth. Some historians who researched the Holocaust recognized this inter - generational psychological damage. A fascinating recognition that materialist viewpoints are not necessarily everything it is cracked up to be.

Des terroristes à la retraite (Terrorists in retirement) is a 1985 French documentary film about the FTP-MOI, a sub-group of the Francs-tireurs et partisans (FTP) organization, a component of the French Resistance during the German military administration in occupied France during World War II. It was written and directed by Mosco Boucault.
