On a recently acquired M14S in a USGI fibreglass stock - I carried out the standard test after assembly...and guess what....the hammer wasn't being caught, which would have meant a possible out of battery firing if I had held the trigger down during the action cycling in semi - auto.
It was a quick fix that took about 2 minutes with the dremel on the stock (as shown by Brobee in the thread linked below).
If people haven't done this test, I recommend doing it....just follow the link.
