Test results from dead carp could take three weeks

I think about 7-8 I saw a beauty almost fully scaled mirror carp about 20-23lbs. Wish I could have caught that one.
Dave.

That sucks Dave
That is a trophy fish... My biggest was about that size from the pickering Nuke plant... Some goomba I know got a 33-34 pounder a few years ago, and had it all over his website... It was a big fish, but I dont particularly care for the guy. Some great big tall english guy that cant fish with a TV show that shall remain nameless...
Any good buckets on the bog?

Actually I was pan fishing with my son. It was his first time he's been. It was the most fun I have ever had fishing. He was armed with his spiderman fishing outfit. I got some great pic's!

Dave.

Awesome...
Its funny how much fun can be had watching/teaching someone else to fish.
I used to do the trout pond every year at the Sportsmens show, and the boat show for my buddies TV show. (I havent done it in about 3 years)
This was the most fun week every year I had... Hundreds of kids getting their first fish, or first try at fishing. Definately priceless

Looks like he had a great time! It's always nice to see kids enjoying the outdoors and fishing!
P.S. - Did you get his fish mounted for him?;) Just kidding. Bet they tasted great.

Actually, and understatement of sorts... :D

As much fun as carp are, I've caught thousands over the years up to 49 lbs, and they are one of the funnest fish on the planet to catch, but I must humbly admit, they do more damage than good...
I've tried to catch thousands...but I must be doing something wrong.
We see loads of them but how do you rig to catch them???

there are a pleothoras of baits you can use, but three commpn and easily had baits are
Bread/dough baits which is anything from small chi=unks of bread rolled up tight on a hook to cornmeal, breadstick chunks (floated on the top)
Unlike some fish, bigger is often better. Dont set the hook, the carp will often do it for you.
Secondly,
Common Kernel corn in a can. Almyer is IMHO the best... large kernels, and lots of em on the hook... Thread em up your line for 3-4 inches. the morethe merrier. (or use a hair rig)
Make sure you throw a few handfulls out where you are intending on casting to bring em in.
Thirdly, Live bait... A carp will take a leach, worm, minnow, or grub.
fish em on the bottom, and you'll likely kick some ass...
If you want more info, PM me, and I'll send you out some info.

The exhausting, time consuming testing the Gubment has been doing is finally finished...testing has shown that they definately are carp.

lol ..........every time i think of you Dave.........i think of the time your son an daughter were up at our place to set up a few bear baits..

they not bear baits they said..they monkey bars..
so funny

you had to be there to get it:D:D

Someone dumped something somewhere, So far I havent seen any floating in Balsam.

When it's moving upstream, it pretty well eliminates a chemical dump.
Looks like a desease. Lets hope it stays with the carp.
I'm guessing the source is a minnow bucket, or a bilge, but one never knows, could have developed right there in Scugog.

Was this directed towards Me?
I've been a part if PUSHING this industry in Southern Ontario for close to 10 years...
We've done numerous shows on them over the years with the few shows i was associated with, and helped to bring products in the country to help folks get interested in these fish, to help control the population Art.
THe less interest people have in them, the worse off we are.
BTW, if you liek eating fish, eat a carp... Its like Halibut (If you leave it in clean water for a few hours.

FYI, Zebra mussels have done leaps and bounds worse for the Walleye than carp, or suckers ever could...
All in the last 10-15 years...

Pottsy is 100% right, my buddy lost his pond too in this
The Koi place you are talking about is still open though, unless its different than the one Im thinking of (Vandermeer Nurseries?)

They are still open though... 1

Yep.

I used to live in Sarnia Ontario for 26 years. I remembered as a child catching 25lb+ Salmon.

In the last 15 years the fishing has gone to hell in Lake Huron/St Clair River. The zebra muscles, carp "you guys are nasty for eating those, especially out of our great lakes:puke: "

But on topic to this.

I remember for a few times every year, you would see 1000's of dead shad and the odd sucker all washed up on the shores. This happened for a good 4 years.

I used to also work for the fisheries there and you should have seem the 1000's of suckers that would be caught in the nets.

Yes. These fish and zebra muscles have indeed, ruined the fishing by a extremely huge margin in Lake Huron.

The good old day's of fishing down there was amazing as I remembered it. And this all wasn't "THAT" long ago either :(

But!! the fishing here where I live now is better then anything I have fished in my life :D

:On a side note, I do believe the mnr has something to do with it, that or it could be those chemtrails :S or the many other chemicals that have been spilled by refineries etc. Who knows. I am sure man is to blame.

Edit to add: Also the water level in Lake Huron, dont know about the other great lakes, but in Huron it has fallen at least 4 feet since the 90's.

I know this because back then the water came up to almost the top of the rails going down the walk way where the St Clair river is, now if you go there, there are rocks out of the water.

It's the Americans stealing our water.
