Textured epoxy paint

Polene T - Sherwin Williams is a common one.

go to acklands-grainger and buy a spray-bomb of Rustoleum anti-skid floor paint, grey, black or clear.

any paint finish can and will chip. imron(dupont) or endura(ppg) are excelent products. the advantage to a painted finish is it can be refinished because of damage or a change of colour. as rgv says some of the spray can fiishes can be quite durable and cheap for the do it yourselfer. two componant finishes like imron are best left to a profesional.

Chappy thanks for the info on who produces these paints, now it will be easier to research.

I'm not afraid of the 2 part paints, I have all the gear to deal with them.

I know this sounds BUBBA but has anyone tried using the actual spray in box liner. Not the spray can stuff but the actual 2 part stuff. I know the stuff is bulletproof on pickup boxes but it is also applied rather thick.
I wonder if a thin coat would work well on a stock. You can buy stuff that you can tint to any color now.

Just a thought?

Not the first time I've been called bubba before, so what the hell... LOL
I actually did use the spray bomb bed-liner from Walmart on my Valmet's wood AK furniture. It turned out great and it's been very durable. Best part is a just a spritz away from a touch-up if it ever needs one :D. It's got a tiny hint of tack/stickyness to it as well, which I find a big plus when handling the rifle with any kind of speed (TacRifle matches). I'm sure the 2-part system would be even better, especially the choose-your-colour aspect!
Go for it!
