I want to thank the folks of the ORA, in particular Bob and Mike, for a fantastic intro shoot today at CFB Borden.

Now all I need to do is figure out what to get! :sniper:

Good on you for going out and trying things for yourself. Bob and Mike are pros and it is good to see you getting the straight goods in person. Stay in touch with both and they will make sure your foray into real precision shooting is a positive experience and your money spent will be wise.

Now you need to decide what direction you want to go and what you need for a rifle and equipment. So are you looking at Precision, F Class, F(O) F(M) F(F), Target Rifle or Service Rifle?

Id like to extend my thanks as well. It was a great day and all the instructors were great. Ill thank my individual instructor Norm in station #3 as well for some nice pointers and being patient with my friend and I.

Also like to thank Bob/Mike for all the info they passed along and letting me try their rifles (WOW!, Blown away by the accuracy). I was in smiles all day.

The ORA will have a new member forsure.

In about a month I'll have most of my parts for my first rifle build and cant wait to shoot with some of those guys again.

Everybody is extremely helpful there.

Great job!

Here are a couple pics from the day.

Not one iron sighted target rifle in the bunch! What is the world coming to?

There was a woman instructor there practising iron sights before the day started. Impressive.

Maybe if they aired 'Quigly Down Under' more often it'd draw more attraction

There was another woman shooting iron sights who was the wife of the guy who was our "butt master" or what ever that job is called! He said she shoots 1000 yards with iron sights.

I think F Class production is where I want to be initially. My dilemma is that now that winter is approaching, I'd need somewhere to shoot the factory Savage .223 I think I'd get. I'm definitely going to join the ORA, but since I'm a member at The Grange (indoor range in Gormley with 27.5 yards maximum distance) I could only shoot a .223 there if I buy THEIR frangible rounds. Too rich for my blood.

So, if I can figure out a way to shoot in the winter without forking over for another club membership, I'd start hunting for a .223 pronto. Otherwise, it might be a better idea for me to get a rimfire rifle. Then I'd get a Bushnell Tactical 6-24X50 (as suggested by Ice-Pick Mike) which I could transfer to the future .223 come spring.

Ideas?

The young lady shooting irons at Borden was Tracy. She is a new shooter and a very fast learner. We were shooting partners during the Fall Palma last weekend and she was doing very well at 800, 900 and 1000 yards. The match results can be found on the ORA web page.

Rob, check with Mike to see if the ORA will be running it's winter program at Burlington again.
