It is entirely possible that it hasn't been refurbished. They usually put a laminate stock on when they do. My '53 looks like yours and appears never to have been fired. You have the Tula Armory stamp and the date, what more could you want ? Enjoy, it's a collector's item...

the flat spot I'm talking about is in the circle, it seems that something have been remove.
nobody have a spot like that ?
except that, she's absolutely mint!!!

My friend has a 54 Tula that has a tiny wave near the front of the receiver cover, almost unnoticeable, but he noticed it, lol. The rifle is unfired, just like it came off the assembly line (no wear marks on carrier, bolt, inside receiver, etc). Although numerous people were questioning WestRifle whether or not they could be unissued as they claimed, it is obvious to me that they are. I have 2 53 Tula's that were like new. As soon as I dismantled them and cleaned off the grease it was a pleasant surprise. After I lubed them up and reassembled them, I used my snap caps and checked their functions. After you rack it a few times you will see tiny marks on the bolt carrier and although you won't see them, they are on the bolt also. That's fine by me, I buy guns to shoot and don't worry about little imperfections (I have a few dents and wear marks myself, lol). WestRifle means what they say and have great service. They could get a lot more for those non refurbs imho, especially south of the border. Enjoy your SKS and get them while you can ! God bless you.

I never had any problem with Westrifle, they sell SKS in outstanding condition and it's not my first from them, maybe 4 before this one, and all was in undoubtedly un-issued condition but it's the first time I see this on a receiver cover and I never thought that Westrifle have done this. I'm just trying to know if I am the only one with this.

Guys we try to do our best by flying there and checking rifles out. if they are in nice condition and have refurbed mark we still take them because they are in nice condition. Not all are unissued. On our last container I had 95 % unissued SKS on our first container few years back it was 99% refurbed. We know what to ask for now. We are cleaning out unissed deposits what you going to see on the market is many with refurbed marks in about year time or sooner. This is my opinion.
