Just got my M305 shorty two days early. Didn't have much time to look over the gun but from what I could see upon initial inspection it looks fantastic.

All in all great service and I will definitely shop again.

Quick question if anyone knows, In the butt stock where the cleaning kit is there is another cylindrical compartment that has something wrapped up and appears to be in some sort of fabric that you can pull out (though I haven't been able to yet). Does anyone know what that is? Also, provided in the other cylindrical compartment is a bottle of oil. I take it this is just a bit of the packing oil that came with it? What's its use asides for long storage?

Welcome to the addiction , these are a great rifle !!

Its the Combo tool and cleaning rods , Do your rifle a favour and the throw the rods away .The Combo tool is really important though.
If the rods are stuck in the stock remove one of the rods and then it will come out easy.


For Lubrication and tips

Check out the stickies and threads in the Main Battle Rifle section.
On all moving parts that contact metal of this rifle use some grease from Crappytire ....white lithium grease or wheel bearing grease.
Keep the inside of the gas tube and piston dry.
You could use the oil on the outside on the rifle or non moving/ sliding parts.

Oh ..Thanks again for my Shorty CanAm , I was one of the first to jump on your Ammo / rifle deal and wish I had the money to have gotten two of them.
I am really happy with it .
