I recently ordered a buttpad for my SKS from hical and Dave shipped it out QUICK! Arrived a few days ago but didn't have the time to put it on. The fit is perfect and it's already on my SKS, making it a lot more comfortable. Can't wait to hit the range! Pics to follow ;)

I figured a pic was in order.. Please note that the SKS was pre-Bubba'd.. The cheek rest is a proof of concept, eventually I'll do a fully adjustable one in Kydex and the scope mount rail bolts to the receiver, holds zero quite nicely

Every time I read about someone's scope holding zero on a SKS, it makes me want to get one but then I read other reviews about screws coming loose or shells hitting it or someone getting scope eye I back off the idea of putting a scope on.

Screws won't come loose if you use red loctite - comes in a convenient twist-dispenser for the gel. I used it both to attach the plate to the receiver and to shorten the 2 mounts by 1" (they were made for the AK, mount lower, need to be taller) by cutting off the center plate and reattaching the 2 pieces with machine screws. If you get a Choate mount from hical.ca, you just drill and tap the receiver, make sure you use loctite and you're set. It'll never move. As for the rounds hitting the scope, that is why I got a shorty scope and even shortened the mount lengthwise a bit. In addition to that, I ground the ejector port so it ejects forward and to the right. Can use clips, too. I havent tested it with the new lens caps, but I have more than enough room to move the scope back a bit, especially with the buttpad that's the reason for this thread ;)

Edit: One note - the holes in the stock were placed way before I got the buttpad, so I'll have to reposition them
