I had a 0400### pinned barrel SKS, that was beginning to show signs of barrel separation. Took it back to SIR, and they actually gave me a new gun(and a sweetie of an SKS it is too!)! It was not exactly painless, but it's good to see them taking serious steps to improving thier ####ty customer service rep. Anyways, If you have one of these pinned barrel ones that you got there, get in touch with them and pester for an exchange. Apparently I was the first to return to them with that problem, but while I was waiting (it took around 2 weeks) apparently some others came back too. The replacement was a nice genuine military SKS(not a commercial parts bin POS like the one I returned) in great shape still packed with cosmo. Suffice to say, I'm a very happy camper, and if you have one of the problem ones, go get a new one!!!

You can find an order # for SKS's on their website (use their search function, it's faster). I got mine from there too, factory 26 model w/threaded barrel, sealed for freshness in bacon grease, I mean cosmoline! I'd like to get another one, I wonder if they'd hand-pick one for me if I called them? I've dealt with them a couple times, always been happy with their customer service. Where did their ####ty rep come from?

I don't know about yours, but my new one is all matching, save for the bolt and carrier, which matches itself. I'd like to find the one that has the bolt n carrier for serialed to mine(i have the bolt and carrier for gun #01250, if that matches yours, we can trade:D). In any case, I might buy another one and keep it wrapped up. I reckon that in 10 years time, these and Mosins will be like cheap enfields 10 years ago...

I've never even checked my serial #'s, I was too excited to get it cleaned up and ready for shooting :D I'll check 'em for you though, and get back to you.

I'm planning on buying another myself, maybe two. I'm not particularly concerned w/value in the future, I just think guns make excellent heirlooms  Plus, I like shooting them. They're even more fun than .22's, and I don't say that lightly!

Me: "Hi. I've been having NOTHING but problems with this here SKS since I bought it."

SIR Staff: "Sir, this seem to be a cardboard cut out."

Me: "Can I exchange this for a new one please? This guy I know from the internet says it's OK. Shooting WAY high. This barrel must be, like, loose or something."

SIR staff: "I see. Just one moment sir." *Dialing 911 behind back*

Meanwhile.. 10 mins later in the next room....
