just wanted to pass along a thanks to Tigrr for set up and inviting a few of us out to his range on sat. he had put in lots of work setting up steel gongs for us to blast away at ,starting from 100 yds and ending up out at one mile! it was very windy and around -7 but we lasted most of the day with the farthest hits landing on the 1500 yd target. both Tigrr and i were shooting 6.5x284 and we maxed out on elevation and were still 3.5 mills down on the scopes . but hits were made. once again Tigrr thanks for a fun shoot!!

Your welcome
A little friendly competition is always good.
The old open site rifles, a 30-30 and a 303, did a number on the 100 yard target.

Wind gusting up to 20 kms, -6 C blowing right in our faces. Had to wear glasses to stop from tearing. Ran out of elevation to reach a mile, but soon to be rectified! Flinging lead down range is always fun!

That is an awesome range....now if it were .50 compatible I'd pay to play !!
:D

Kevan,

I have a mile+ of hay fields and gongs set up (again), although dont tell CyaN1de because he'll invite his friends that shoot holes in their trucks.

Seriously... bring your 50. I have plenty of room for you to stay and the in-law's wine hasn't blinded me yet!

Cheers!

Ian

The largest target was at the mile mark, it was 4 feet by 4 feet. The 100 yard target was 30 inches square and it was that big because I was shooting my grandfathers 1942 303 british and I wasn't sure if I would even hit that target. I was also using my own reloads. I also shot my 30-30 for the first time at a 100 yard target.
The biggest marks are from the 30-30! The 303 just sailed right through the 3/16th inch thick plate. Grandpa's 303 even hit the 200 yard target!!
Half of the targets are 338 friendly and half are 30 cal friendly. 2 - 2 1/2" thick 16" diameter flanges are 50 cal friendly.
Due to the fluctuations in the wind and the brutal cold we shot at the closer targets. Conserve ammo!
You sure learn quick how much elevation you need shooting to a mile. I ran out at 1500 yards.

:sniper:Yep I'm jealous, I'd give my left CGNutz to shoot those distance. In Ontario to many trees and we have to go to military bases to shoot those distances. Thanks for the pics

Feb 6th 2010 shoot

Well Steve we know your gun will reach the mile, because of the 3 holes punched in the snow drift beside the target. If we could have seen the snow puffs through the fog today, we could have steered you onto the target. So close!!
It was fun!

yes once again it eluded me . but i was there and it was close thanks again for another great day of shooting !! Ashton was full of questions on the ride home after lol
