I saw on CGN Saturday that VRS had Merino socks on sale. I ordered 6 pairs and the smart brushes (thinking those look super useful and won't change the shipping cost). On checkout I had option of Canada Post for $20 shipping - the box rate basically - or UPS for $16. Monday I got order confirmation and Wednesday it was here. Coincidentally it arrived at the same time as a vintage shotgun also being delivered by UPS so I put the brush set to work that afternoon cleaning 150 years of grime from the barrels. Use the bronze brushes lightly because I could see under magnification that on highly polished surfaces they can leave tiny scratches. Plus they are going to look like fuzzy toothbrushes if not used lightly as intented. The same brush shapes with stiff synthetic bristles are more robust and would be safe to clean up engraved surfaces for instance. The big win I did not expect is how useful and durable the hard plastic tips are for detail cleaning. I cut squares of blue shop towel sprayed with oil to use the plastic wedge to clean the seams along the top rib and under ribs and it worked beautifully. I can see that will be part of my doublegun regular maintenace cleanings. In the past I used a cut credit card to do that but not nearly as fine an edge for the job as the smart brush plastic wedges.
