That pesky pinned barrel.

Seeing how I have no idea what I'm actually looking for, I need some help.
I know what a threaded barrel looks like, I'm pretty sure I know what a pinned barrel is supposed to look like. But I have no idea what a whacked out uber bubba job barrel is supposed to look like. And I'm thinking I've aquired the latter; mostly because I have no idea what I'm looking at, and the the two lines/notches on the barrel and reciever don't line up.

Now I know those pictures are pure crap, and leave a lot to the imagination.
So I've cleverly crafted this crude drawing of what she looks like from the side.

Not long ago Lever Arms had some SKS rifles that had loose barrels. Their solution was to drill and pin them. If the work looks recent, you probably have one of these. Contact Lever with the serial number and identifying marks. You never know.

It looks to me that you have one of the pinned/threaded collar barrels. IIRC the barrel threads into the collar which is then pinned to the receiver. Is it giving you problems?

Yeah, the Nork/Lever arms quick fix attachment of a pinnned barrel to a threaded receiver.....
What Nork seems to have done is make a collet by cutting the end off a threaded barrel and hogging it out so a pinned barrel would fit in. You can see in this pick how crudely it's cut off and all put together

IIRC, Levers fix was to stick a pin through the collet and barrel and this seems to have held up. The lower right pin through the receiver looks like a miss.....then the second one was put in closer to the barrel.

I haven't fired it yet, it's brand spanking new (as new as it could possibly be). So what do you guys figure, ok to take out tomorrow, or a send it back?

Yes yes, I did read that. What I'm trying to figure out is why is this supposive threaded barrel is pinned in a reciever, and why the alignment marks aren't aligned.

If that is the case then send it back (unfired), and shop somewhere else as it sounds like yet another Lever Arms parts bin special. Man those guys really are pushing it.
