The american went bonkers over a chinese made gun- type 81 LMG

At RIA, they bidded the type 81 LMG to C$50,000, a gun imported by norinco made in the 80s, granted there were only handfull made it in before they were ban from importation.

now, i really would want one but unfortunately TI said they arent likely to bring them in unless it was piggy backed on production.
actually, i would prefer the LMG part kits (furniture, barrel, carry handle and bipod) and do it meself (with the help from a smith).

That was the only one that was an LMG of the 20 that made it into America. 2 Prototype tool room 5.56 models, 17 Standard side folders, and 1 LMG.

Very nice rifle, but for price many American have more options. When I lived there I had some real class III AK rifles, including a Vietnam war trophy gun, but sadly sold back in the days they were much cheaper. I saw one sell recently for $40,000! U.S.

Why would it be any better than what we got?
Prototypes, shop samples, trials rifles are produced to pattern and approve what the vision for actual production is.

An interesting question that can impact Quality of items produced by China and the Russian sphere are....

1/ Designed and Built for your own Domestic forces.
2/ Designed and Built for commercial arm sales to generate funds/profit.
3/ Designed and Built to “Gift” to a friendly Nation or Organization for political benefit.
