Just saw this over at TFB:

That MSRP of 750$ certainly looks like it could make a VERY good contender for an entry level AR. I've been eyeing getting a Norinco CQ-A for months and even looked at the NEA offering but now...
I'm not so sure anymore.

Here's to hoping they make it up north or at least go through IRunGuns.ca ...

Yeah $750.....but look at that POS cast FSB, proprietary barrel nut, #### handguards....honestly, makes DPMS look like a champion.
I'd still buy a PSA over anything else in that price range.....Ruger stinking up another design chimping out on manufacturing costs.

I never said it was a great deal, I just said it wasn't 1700$ like he posted. For the extra 100$ or whatever I would definitely rather have this over the Norinco. I wouldn't buy either though lol.

they really like those flash hiders eh?

It's not timed either. Lol

Doesn't seem to be anything stellar about any low end AR. I think I'd want one that at least used standard components.

....of course that's after having bought the norc before this race to the bottom got underway.

The elite ar-15 crowd makes me laugh. You complain about any ar under 1500 dollars, this means this topic isn't for you. It is for the people who don't need a fancy name on their plastic and aluminum rifle to enjoy shooting it.

We are bringing these into Canada when we receive them from Ruger (Sorry no ETA) . If you cant wait there are several other discount priced AR's on the market now.

Woot

I wonder how well this model would stack up against other ARs in the similar price range (under 800$)

Easy tiger, PSA and DPMS make budget priced rifles with milspec components that retail for less then this POS Ruger.
What makes this rifle good or better then the other low cost US made rifles? Cuz it says Ruger on the side?

I'm with you on this one, no idea what Ruger is thinking. I like my PSA and would certainly buy PSA or DPMS before this. I just don't see the point with the other options on the market around the same price. Since this is MSRP, maybe we're talking 550 USD street price?

What makes the dpms better that this new ruger?
I want to buy an AR but find it very difficult to decide what to buy.
Elite AR guys so trash talk anything low cost. Ruger? Dpms?
Or should I just save up and get the Daniel defense.

I saw a couple online reviews and all were positive for the new ruger at-556. Cold forged barrel, dust cover, dovetail grip....
It's literally for punching paper at the range.
