Is it that much of an issue for left handed shooters? I've been hovering around an S&W M&P15 but I've never shot an AR. So far none of my firearms are "left-handed" models and I see ARMSEAST (is it?) that has some lefties for not much more but I like the classic clean lines of the M&P15.

TIA for the input.

Cheers

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Near as I can tell most lefties have gotten along just fine before the Stag lefty guns came on the market, I suspect you would also. The A2 brass deflector helped things when it was added to receivers back in the 80s.

Yep, AR's are as lefty friendly as most anything out there, and quite a bit better than some. I'd like to try a LH Stag someday, but don't know if I'd ever buy one instead of the RH/normal model.

I bought a LH Stag for chits and giggles. All my other firearms are RH and I have no issues whatsoever with them.

I must admit that I shot a RH Tavor recently and got hit on the chin with ejected brass. This is the only lefty unfriendly firearm I ever handled.

My LH AR is quite cool though.

I like my left hand stag. I like all my left hand guns. No issue with RH but nicer in LH IMO.

The Knight's SR15 E3 is well designed with every control you'd want ambi, integral with the rifle.
The standard AR design with the ejection on the right is perfect for leftys.

I've had hot brass from SP1's with no brass deflector bounce off my cheek many times but no issues with an A2 or newer. I shoot left handed..

No real problems shooting a standard AR left handed . The ambi controls are great for making the gun faster , surer , and much more handy. Ambi controls help with running the gun one handed in an emergency , as well .
There are 3 AR lowers at our house , two of them have ambi mag catches , safeties , and MAD's.

Found a LH Stag on the EE so thought I'd give it a try, and am now wondering why I didn't get one long ago. :) First firearm I've owned that didn't throw an empty across in front of me, and it's a nice change. Not that it ever bothered me much before, but now it just isn't there at all. Very nice indeed.

One thing that struck me as a bit odd though, is that there's no ambi mag release. Kind of a strange omission considering everything else is set up for a lefty.

Standard AR seems fine for me as a lefty, but sometimes the standard safety feels like it interferes with my fingers on the receiver. I haven't bought an ambi safety yet. I have gotten burns on my jawline from hot cases. My upper is a dpms target receiver, and doesnt' have that hump I see on other AR's where the brass would hit (I'm guessing that's what its for).

my biggest concern would be for the pingpong paddle and the mag release. its a lot slower to work with yer support hand. so for the fastest empty gun mag changes a lefty gun is better for the south paw shooter. if youre not concerned about speed of operation, get a regular AR and go nutz!!!
