Okay, so who makes the best for target use, if you don't actually have one don't bother to reply!
How many locking lugs?
How sloppy is the bolt?
Repeater?
What is the trigger?
How many action screws?
Overall size?
Shape?
Steel alloy?
Recoil lug?
Cost and is one available?

Here's mine built by HWSNBN. I believe you have all the details on it already . The bolt slides in smoothly and locks up very tight. It is a single shot. The trigger is extreamly crisp with no overtravel and breaks clean. They are built to suit and are readily available depending on how busy the builder is. expect a little waite. They are increadably accurate as long as the man behind the trigger is doing his part.

We are working on a new stock project as well as having a pile of Barnard actions for 50. I was wondering what current opinion is but I guess they are not too common, yet anyway.

I saw some of the Barnard actions down south at my favorite smiths place. they were .30 cal, but I was impressed with the simplicity and clean machining. If the .50's follow suite and have the strength I think you would have a winner.

Are you building yourself one Ian? if so let us know how it goes for you.

Your choices are very limited when it comes to 50cal just because of the whole non-export thing. If you're looking for choice, go with 338L. Take a look at the Bang a gong thread if you're looking for penetration. As far as shooting a mile, it does that too and you won't be breaking any laws when trying to get reloading components from guys that are bootlegging it across. If you want a 50cal just to say you have one because it's cool, there is really only one maker of a 50 action you can get your hands on and we all know who that is. The action itself was tested at a rediculous over pressure for failure and didn't. It's totally over built and the new ones can take a jewel trigger. As far as bbl go, there are quite a few manufacturers the guy probably has in stock so give him a call and see. I shot it last weekend and the muzzle break he's running is unbelieveably affective.

I understand the US will not export any 50 stuff. Actions and barrels are from NZ, no problem. Lapua loading components can be had in Canada so I am told. These GP actions are as well made as the P, maybe even better and that would be hard to do. I will put one together and post some pics. It looks like there will be a steady stream of actions and barrels available.
