The birthday buck

Hello all again from over the pond, I had a very special day today and took my first Roebuck of the season. See the blog for video
Weighed in at about 50 pounds, a nice 6 point Roe Buck. The season for these started on April 1st and this chap is about 7 years old and going back, you can tell he is past his prime from the pearling and coronets on the Antlers.

I strained hard and saw he was a buck. In Velvet it seemed and going back so over the age of being in his prime (didnt I just know how that felt?) so I lined up the CZ527 in 7.62 x 39 and waited for him to appear.

Thanks fellas. You may have noticed that we had some snow, not enough for once to shut the country but this part of our county suffered quite severely for about 12 hours. Most roads opened the next day so I was really glad to get out and stalk. Its normally 10-15 degrees about now and laways 5 degrees warmer than London and up north so I really froze this morning. I soon warmed up packing him out to the truck though. Thankfully it wasnt the bigger Fallow Bucks we were actually after!
