Avtomat Nikonova 94. Few people have heard of it or even seen one and even fewer (over here in the west) have shot one. This is beyond innovative and in a league of itself. A bit of a long article but a great read and quite detailed for those who innerested in the inner workings.

A pair of shots in burst mode come at 33/thousandths of a second apart....thats at about 1/5 of the speed of an eye blink.

I remember when everyone thought for sure it would become the standard Russian rifle and totally wipe out the AK-74/100...

Then I read that it had 3 times the complexity and 6 times the manufacturing cost... right at a time when Russia was dead broke. Those three factors nailed its coffin closed.

There were many other weapons far more secret and exotic from Russia that were revealed to the world in the early 90's. All commonly known now.

Sheesh/ lol ...lots of bone pickers/critics here at CGN. I didn't write or intend to imply the gun was held in secret. Nor did I state its age of development/manufactiure. Simply said that it is innovative, unique, and few people are aware of it. I'd bet less than 5 out of 100 people shooting on a range here in N.A., if asked, could give you details on it from the top of their head.

Im tired of Vickers reviewing Russian stuff we will never be allowed to own here, not even in the USA, its getting retarded.

Sorry to hear that - feel free to watch boring videos on Ruger 10/22's and Mosin Nagants since you can own those. You won't be seeing me doing those videos so that should make you happy

I was introduced to the AN-94 by the stalker series back in 2007. Classic.

Now if only someone would import them to Canada

Not an AK riiiight?

Definitely not an AK. For sure it shares some "AK esque" features, but it has a pulley, so definitely a novel design. ;)

There is a segment of CGN posters that takes it very personally when someone asks or posts something THEY know all about. The usual reaction being a variation of: "Oh, God, here we go again. Everybody knows ...; that's so oooold, etc."

Makes it difficult for others to learn something, particularly about odd ball rifles from other countries.

You can shoot real deal genuine AN94's in Vegas at a few different ranges actually.
Lol theyre not as awesome and special as OP thought haha! Oh well happens to all of us
