The Calgary Easter Gun Show Report!

Curious to hear about it as well.

Does anyone have any details about nice 1911's or other collectible US firearms at the show?

Any matching K98k's surface out there?

Regards,
-Steve

Saw a couple of m1941 johnsons, a g43 that looked original, a couple of sniper k98's, bunch of deacts, a handful of M1911's, a radom vis, a ton of lee enfields, a table full of collectable Ross rifles...
Big place and hard to keep track of everything especially when your not looking

It seems there were more than a few of the harder to find milsurps. Fn-49s, Rashids, Ag-42s, G-43s, a few Johnsons and a good selection of Ross rifles, No.7s and a few No.4Ts.
Lots of refurb'ed Enfields brought back from sporterization and .303 British ammo. A lot of the .303 ammo I saw were reloads and all of the milsurps were demanding top dollar, regardless of whether they appeared original or obvious de-sporters.

Now more than ever, it really behooves the buyer to be a SME on what they are getting into.

Agree with Beltfed. Very few original Enfields. Pretty much everything I saw were brought back from sporters. Unfortunately I had tables and really did not manage to see a lot of the other tables. Thursday was way too busy, Friday was very busy, and by Saturday I was too exhausted to get around much. Sales at my table were good, and I bought a few things but nothing too major.

Can you sir or anyone at the show please tell me what deacts you saw? Thank you!

I also saw deactivated ZB37, Scorpions, and of course, stens.

The M2HB was a converted auto. The guy had a sign saying that photos were $5. I had a couple in past years to sell, and as long as the girl was cute, photos with the gun were free.

Other than the original Lee Enfields, which guns did you see less of this year?
From thinking back, there were some Lugers but fewer than in previous years.
I don't think I saw a nice 03 Springfield either

Tons of cool stuff to look at, it takes a FULL day to get through it all. I saw some very cool antique flint lock guns, an old WWII rangefinder, a very cool collection of old Turkish knives, and got to handle some custom made rifles by ATRS (very impressive). The highlight for me was a conversation I had at a table wherein I was told that 7.62x39 is not a real bullet, and SKS is not a real gun. All this time I thought it was!

Picked up a bucket of bulk reloaded 9mm and a rear sand bag. Wished I had a lot more money to spend!

As for glares from gumpy old farts, I didn't get a single one. The vendors and collectors were all very happy and upbeat and more than willing to show me their stuff. It was a very good day.

I had to give a glare when two young guys grabbed a pair of sten dewats without asking and started swinging them around, one clipping the Bren tripod I had set up on the table. They finished off by laying them on top of each other. But I had a lot of great conversations, and the vast majority of people asked before handling.

Wow, they had some nerve.

Lots of Brens. Only a few Stens which is surprising as there were many last year. A few German MGs and one Czech VZ59 which was in beautiful shape. And the STG44. Ak74u, ak74, vz58. Bd3008.

Picked up a MAS 49/56 for 500 that needs a firing pin and either an extractor or ejector. Otherwise in really nice shape. Will make a nice shooter for sure.
