Your impressions, thoughts, what you bought, what you would have liked to buy, the cool stuff, the rare stuff, the milsurps, the food, and anything else.

And the pics there and after!

It was the first time for me. My son and I went both days and had a great time. I was able to get a part for an enfield and we also both bought some other items. Got a great deal on a case of Blazers from P&D who were great people to deal with. Got a ton of info from the guys at Tactical Innovations on their scopes which I plan to buy. Met with the folks from Wolverine and so many more. Had a great chat with the vp from the NFA and also CSSA. Had a very good talk with the young lady at the CFO booth who cleared up some issues we had.
What I liked was being able to put a face to the many that I have found out about here on this site. Would be nice to see more manufactures and dealers showing off their new items. As far as prices went there were some that I would not have payed for but I saw a lot of guns going out the door, so many did.

All in all we had a great time and will be going again next year.

Was good. A lot of junk and a lot of treasures. Some stuff was over priced and some bang on. A lot of milsurp stuff especially lee enfields. There were a couple of nice german mausers with dirty birds and one SA stamped mosin nagant that I thought about buying but after I came back it was gone. A nice mosin nagant 1917 I think with a hex receiver
Seemed most crowded around the newer black rifles especially the ARs. There was a middle aged guy selling a lot of milsurp snipers - garand. K98. Mosins etc but too much $
There was a all matching mauser with the original zr41 (?) scope for $8500!

I bought a very interesting m44 Hungarian all matching with some strange stuff but you'll have to wait till I post pics. Supposedly it's a vet bring back from Korea or Vietnam ? Paid $300 but I couldn't leave it there as it peaked my curiosity.

I found the milsurp prices on the high side, tried dealing on a few P38's, to no avail. The selection was great. It was the first time I have been to it and I did find it was well organized, especially for the amount of people. I did buy a stripper clip full of WW2 7.7 X 58 Jap. for $22.00, that same guy also had an explosive tipped round for the Jap. rifle as well, but he wanted $40.00 for one round. Also bought some .38 S & W for my Enfield revolver, $35.00 for 50 rds. Will definitely attend again.

The $8500 k98 was actually a BYF44 bolt mismatch only, looked pretty right to me. Included the can and quite a few accessories. The seller is a good guy.
The other ZF41 scoped k98 for sale by a different guy was a put together piece that has been for sale for some time. I know the guy is on this board, but based on the 90 seconds I spoke to him, I know he's no authority on the subject of k98s. Not that I am either, but apparently for some if you stand behind a table at these shows you pretty much are an expert on everything. Sorry I wrecked your sale, bud ;) I remember why I didn't buy from you in years past.
I enjoyed the reenacting group reaching out to the public and offering people to handle their dewats.
P&D simply rocked. It was nice to see the CFC booth there, alot of guys had good questions and answers.
Teri's Japanese section, as always ruled. Always willing to help out a newbie.
Food sucked, parking sucked, crowds were not bad, I spent like $12 on some parts for my projects.
I will be back next year for sure.

I went in search of a SVT magazine, and I was planning on buying a mosin if I could find one for a decent price.

Did not see any SVT mags.
Every mosin I saw was like 300+ and/or in poor condition.

purchased this for $185:

not sure if it was a fair price, but it has a rail on it for mounting scopes. I got two friends interested in buying this off me for a starter hunting rifle if I don't like it, so no loss.

Understandable. Attorney's fees are expensive once he's been charged with possession of prohibited ammunition.

Yeah, I also was a bit skeptical. He said these rounds were identified by the flat nose on the bullet, I want to do a bit of research to see exactly what he was wanting to pawn off on me!

What was the final out come concerning "trigger locks"? Did the CFO change his mind at the end?

Some tables had them, some didn't. One dealer I talked with said it wasn't the CFO enforcing them, but it was his own preference. Sure made looking at a gun more time consuming, especially when alot of them had cables run through the triggers.

Some of the prices were way out of whack. I saw some guy trying to sell a scoped (commercial scope and mounts, not a sniper) Mosin for 850. Didn't take a close look at it, but that scope better damn well have been a $700 scope to justify that ridiculous price. However there were some deals to be had on vintage sporting rifles; one guy had a scoped Remington Model 81 in .300 Savage for $450, and another guy had a nearly brand new Belgian 3" Auto-5 for $550. They tempted me, but i just couldn't justify the expense.

Thats exactly like one I have and I looked at it. You did ok on that price.

Calgary Police were there, one vender asked if they had their PALs, they didn't even have a good come-back ready.

I didn't realize Enfield mags went for $60 - $80 a pop. Saw a Boys ATR ($9K and change if I recall) and a M2 C/A for sale.

My son bought a Swiss helmet and an AK bayonet.

Most prices are not cheap but I'll keep going: its the thrill of the chase.
