The CANADIAN Ruger Gunsight Scout Discussion Thread

I've been looking around for a left hand, left action aftermarket stock for the ruger here but can't seem to find one? I've be fine with a solid walnut, or an MDT chassis like the Oryx or something.

Any lefties out there find anything anywhere?

Check out Boyds. Pretty sure they shp to Canada. I am looking at their stocks for my Ruger American G2 that I have set up as a Scout rifle.

Single loading is no problem…simply drop one on the feed lips of the empty magazine and send the bolt home.
When they went with the AI magazines they essentially turned a “semi” CRF action into a “fully” center push feed one.

Still a great rifle but some guys get right pissy when you tell them their Ruger scout is a puyes
I am new to the Gunsite rifle. Followed this thread for a while and finally took the plunge. Picked up a new/old stock and sourced a 10 round magazine. Debating using Leupold quick release QR rings but already had the Talley rings in my locker. Ultimately hoping to eventually get my hands on a Leupold Prismatic site if I can ever find one. So far I like the fit and feel of this rifle. I was never a fan of the Ruger 77 until a buddy picked up an older, compact Alaskan model in 375Ruger. Each time I had it in hand I found myself wanting something similar in 308. Looking forward to some cooler weather to pound a few rounds.
if you want to buy rifles or short guns on cheap prices dm me

Hello everyone, spent the last couple days reading this, lot of good info. One of these is high on my want list.

Couple of questions:
Has there been a 18.7” barrel with a walnut stock?
Anyone experience any problems with single loading/direct chamber loading?

Thank you in advance,

Dresden

thank you!

The Ruger Gunsite Scout has always achieved a perfect combination between traditional bolt-action dependability and contemporary adaptability. It's accurate, durable, and surprisingly adaptable for range work and hunting alike. I'm interested to know how people have been arranging their mags, slings, optics, etc. How does the.308 handle and recoil in the shorter barrel over long periods? What configurations have proven most effective for Canadian shooters would be greatly appreciated.
