The CMMG Dissent was just released in the States, https://cmmg.com/dissent (Note for Mod: this is not in competition with any forum vendor, as product cannot be sold here, for info purposes only).
It looks like the took "our" 180 recoil system, shrunk it slightly, and then are riding Stoner-style pseudo piston DI-ish bolt carrier impinged by a very short gas tube along the dual rails, in a similar manner to the Jard J180 and upcoming SBI DI BCG for the WK and MCR. They have a non-reciprocating side-swappable forward charging handle, similar to that of a micro-sized Crusader Arms Sentinel. Like with the Sentinels Comp package, it comes with and adjustable Triggertech trigger out of the box. Congratuatlations to Triggertech on this manufacturing win in the U.S. market as a great Canadian manufacturer! Their lower uses a 1913 / Pictanny rail rear stock attachment point, like the Sterling R18, for the use of folding braces and stocks.
The whole thing being compatible with any AR-15 lower of course makes it verboten in Canada under the current regime. The AR18/AR15 hybrid action looks intriguing, though, and it may be possible to have CMMG make either an AR-180 compatible upper with a non-restricted barrel and longer gas system for us, should the 180s not be OICed, or make an entirely novel version that is intended not to be related to any other firearm and submit it for an FRT post-OIC, assuming that it is not blanket ban or freeze on all semi-automatic firearms. Or a company like Crusader Arms could license the action and import it for use in their own firearm with modification, or make it locally. Thoughts from the community? In any event, its intriguing to see many of the features of firearms created here in the last few years brought together in a novel package.
