You can. The dumbed down version is any semi automatic rifle designed post 12/23 that takes magazines larger than 5 rounds is a no go. This is the workaround - you design something with proprietary magazines that are no larger than 5 rounds

All newly designed firearms must be designed to take a maximum 5 round magazine, newly designed firearms that can take magazines over 5 rounds are prohibited. The Crypto has material built up in the magwell to only allow their proprietary 5 round magazine, one could easily file this material down and a stanag mag will fit. This (i beleive) does not break any laws as the firearm was originally designed to hold 5 rounds like the law says

If you can't clear a room with a 20" barrel but think a 10" with 10" of can you can't own would work just awesome you need more training and less guns.

C-21 essentially bans any future AR style that were designed to accept mags holding more than 5 rounds.

So, in order to satisfy that, this company created a new production AR type rifle that has been designed to only accept magazines that physically have no way of holding more than 5.
